What is Checkout Extensibility?
Shopify’s Checkout Extensibility is a suite of new platform features allowing brands to easily make code-free customizations to their checkout experience.
While Checkout Extensibility will eventually replace checkout.liquid, Shopify is not requiring brands to upgrade all pages at once. Brands can select which pages to upgrade and when. Note you have until August 2025 to upgrade your Thank you & Order status pages, which is where DiscoFeed displays.
Shopify’s Deadlines
- August 13, 2024 - Deadline to upgrade the Information, Shipping, & Payment pages to extensibility
- August 28, 2025 - Deadline to upgrade the Thank you & Order status pages to extensibility
How is DiscoFeed affected?
DiscoFeed displays on both the Thank you and Order status pages, NOT on the Checkout pages.
That means if you’ve only upgraded your Checkout pages, this help article does not apply to you just yet. It’s only after you’ve upgraded your Thank you and Order status pages specifically that you will need to follow these steps.
Not sure which pages you’ve upgraded? Log into your Shopify admin to confirm.
In this example, the brand has upgraded their Checkout pages AND the Thank you and Order status pages.
Set-Up Instructions
1. Log in to your Disco account and go to the Manage DiscoFeed page. Click the “Publish” button in the upper right and ensure the first box is checked in the drop-down.
2. Then, open your Shopify admin page. Click the black Customize button under Customize your checkout.
3. You’ll need to add DiscoFeed to both the Thank you and Order status pages. First, select the Thank you page from the upper dropdown menu.
4. Click “Add App Block” in the lower left corner
5. Select the Disco App Block from the left-hand side to add it to your page.
6. To review the changes in the Shopify admin preview, you’ll need to hit refresh in your Disco account:
- Go back to your Disco account and click the refresh icon on the preview window, just beneath the Publisher button.
Then return to your Shopify admin tab. DiscoFeed should appear in the Shopify admin preview. Click Save.
7. Repeat the steps for the Order status page:

Select the Order status page from the upper drop-down menu.

- Click Add app block in the lower left corner.
- Select the Disco app block from the left side of the screen.

Go back to your Disco account and hit refresh.

You should then see DiscoFeed display in your Shopify admin preview. Click Save.
Best practices on where to place DiscoFeed on the page
When you add the Disco App block to your Thank you and Order status pages, DiscoFeed will automatically be placed in our recommended location for that page.
However, if needed, you can move DiscoFeed by dragging and dropping it within the left-side navigation. For example, if you use a post-purchase survey, we recommend placing DiscoFeed just beneath it. Otherwise keep DiscoFeed as high up on the page as possible within the Order details section.
Important! Do not place DiscoFeed on the right-hand side of the screen (i.e. under the Order summary section) as it won’t render properly on mobile devices.
