Which headline will win? You don't have to guess. Give an ad group several offers, and Disco keeps moving traffic toward the ones shoppers respond to. It never stops testing, and you never have to call a winner.
The short version
When an ad group has more than one offer, Disco doesn't split traffic evenly and doesn't pick a single winner. Each offer gets a share of traffic based on how strongly the data says it's outperforming the other offers in that ad group. Those shares update automatically as new results come in.
How it works
Each ad group is its own contest. An offer is only compared with the other offers in the same ad group. The same offer can lead in one ad group and trail in another, because the audience and placements differ.
New offers get a fair trial. A new offer starts as a full contender and gets plenty of traffic while Disco learns how it performs. The trial lasts until there's enough time and data to judge it, so it runs longer in a quieter ad group.
Traffic follows the evidence. Disco compares each offer's click-through rate with the others in the ad group. It asks how sure it can be of the difference, not just which offer is ahead. In a quieter ad group, Disco waits for enough data before it shifts traffic, so a lucky early streak never decides the winner. Once the difference is clear, the stronger offer earns most of the traffic.
Every offer keeps a chance at a comeback. Disco keeps a small share of traffic on each offer so it can spot one that starts working again, like a seasonal offer when its season arrives, and bring it back on its own. If you want an offer gone, ask your Disco team to take it out of the ad group.
Clicks have to turn into purchases. Disco favors offers that earn clicks and purchases. Click-through rate sets each offer's share. An offer whose clicks turn into purchases clearly less often than the other offers in its ad group is scaled back to the minimum, however many clicks it draws.
It never stops adjusting. Shares are recalculated regularly from your recent results, so they keep up as performance changes. There's no end date.
What it does and doesn't do
Creative optimization decides which of your offers to show for each ad group. It doesn't change your bid or your CPA goal.
Better-performing offers can also help your ad group compete over time, because the auction rewards ads shoppers click.
Getting the most from it
- Give it options. Each variation is its own offer. Create them under Offers, changing the heading, subheading, call to action or the deal itself. Your Disco team adds new offers to the right ad groups. There's no limit on how many offers Disco can test, and more real variety means more to learn from.
- Make the differences meaningful. The clearer the difference between offers, the faster Disco can tell which one shoppers prefer. Test different angles, such as a discount against free shipping, or a benefit-led headline against a product-led one.
- Use OffersAI for a starting draft. In the offer builder, turn on OffersAI Optimization or select Generate on the heading field, and OffersAI writes a heading, subheading and call to action for you to edit. Run it again for each new offer to build up variations. See Setting up your offer.
- Create new offers; don't edit live ones. An offer's results stay attached to it, so changing its copy mixes old performance with new words. To try a change, create a new offer and add it alongside the original. Keeping the original also lets Disco notice if it recovers.
Seeing how your offers perform
In Reporting & Insights, open the Table tab and add Offer name as a dimension to compare results for each offer. Add Ad group name too, since the same offer can perform differently in different ad groups. See Reading your DiscoAds reporting.
Common questions
Why is one of my offers getting very little traffic? The data showed it underperforming the other offers in that ad group, on clicks or on conversions. It isn't turned off, and its share recovers on its own if it improves.
Two of my offers are splitting traffic evenly. Is something wrong? No. The data can't tell them apart yet. The split moves once one pulls ahead convincingly. Disco judges offers on recent results, so in a quiet ad group the split can stay even. With few shoppers, there isn't enough evidence to pick a winner safely.
Can I make one offer always show? Yes. Make it the only offer in its ad group.
