Overview
- What is it? An integration with Klaviyo that automatically delivers high-intent leads to you from Disco.
- How does it work? If you have a live Nurture Offer and a shopper clicks “claim offer,” we will pass their shopper profile to your Klaviyo account as a lead for you to retarget.
- What does it cost? There is no additional cost at this time. You only pay for conversions as usual.
- Who can use it? Any brand that uses Klaviyo and has a live Nurture Offer.
Disco Account Setup
- Set up a Nurture offer. If you don’t have a live Nurture Offer, follow these instructions to set one up.
- Ensure you have the right Klaviyo access. Make sure you have Manager, Owner or Admin permissions within Klaviyo.
- Connect your Klaviyo account. Navigate to the Nurture section on the left-hand menu of your Disco account. Click “Connect” on the Klaviyo banner to be redirected to Klaviyo and accept the connection.
Klaviyo Account Setup
- Watch for the “Claimed Disco Offer” List. A list called “Claimed Disco Offer” will autogenerate in Klaviyo once you receive your first lead.
- Convert the list from Double Opt-In to Single Opt-In. By default, Klaviyo will make this list double opt in. However, we recommend changing this to single opt in.
Follow these instructions from Klaviyo: Select the list you want to edit, select "Settings", select "Consent" and then check the box next to "Single opt-in."
Note - Disco doesn't have access to your Klaviyo UI so we cannot configure this for you.
- Shopper Profiles. When shoppers click to claim your promo code, leads will automatically populate into this list with the following information:
- Profile information
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email address
- Profile information

- Custom Properties
- Brand the lead was sourced from (e.g. referring_brand: xxxxxx)
- Offer code that the lead converted on (e.g. disco_offer: xxxxxx)
- Lead source (e.g. lead_source = disco)
- Metrics (aka “Events” in Klaviyo)
- Disco_lead_conversion
- Subscription Status
Email Best Practices
Once we’ve delivered a shopper profile to your Klaviyo account, you are welcome to retarget them as you see fit. While every brand has different strategies, here is some high-level guidance:
Remember, Disco leads are high-intent leads.
- These are shoppers who clicked to claim your promo after checking out from another brand, which means they have expressed purchase intent.
- However, you may want to remind them why they are receiving emails from your brand - ie remind them that they claimed an offer.
Customize your welcome flow for your “Disco leads” segment.
- This can be similar to what you typically send shoppers claiming your intro offer from your website, for example. Just clone your welcome series and make a few quick tweaks to tailor it for this segment of shoppers.
- Keep in mind Disco also automatically sends the shopper a confirmation email with your brand's promo code.
Example flow:
- Immediately after claim - Disco sends shopper offer and code via email
- < 12 hours of receiving lead - You send a brand introduction & offer reminder, reminding the Disco leads to use their promo code.
- 3 days out - You send a second offer reminder with any other timely promos
- 1 week out - You send final reminder
- If shopper converts >> goes to your post-purchase flow
- If shopper doesn't convert >> goes to your regular nurture sequence
FAQs
Can we turn off the confirmation email shoppers receive from Disco? Why is it there?
No, this email exists to ensure the shopper has access to any offers they claimed after they navigate away from DiscoFeed and it’s needed for legal purposes as well.
Does Disco have legal approval to share emails with our Klaviyo account and is the customer notified/must approve of this?
Yes, we do. A shopper clicking on the “Claim” CTA is seen as “implicit consent,” which means it’s legal for a brand or Disco to communicate with the shopper via email. The customer is notified in an email Disco sends them after they claim an offer that contains their discount code. Please see footer text in the screenshot below.
Will Disco be providing a breakdown distinguishing leads that are prospects vs. current customers?
No, we don’t have that reporting set up just yet. However, you should be able to cross-reference the list of leads we provide to your Klaviyo account with your existing list to detect any returning customers that claimed a code.
